Constitution and Bylaws of the Palmetto Corvette Club
ARTICLE I.
Section 1: NAME:
The name of the Club is Palmetto Corvette Club.
Section 2: PURPOSE:
The Club’s main purpose is to encourage planned trips, events and social activities for the members, to promote increased interest in the history and ownership of the corvette and to encourage careful and skillful driving on public highways. To support the local community and specific charitable organizations as identified by the Officers.
ARTICLE II.
Section 1: MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
A. Owning a Corvette is required to be eligible for membership. Single or Couple membership only requires owning 1 Corvette.
B. Each member is entitled to all the benefits of membership.
1. Enjoying the company and friendship of fellow Corvette Owners.
2. Having fun at the varied events and trips.
3. Showing off America’s Favorite Sports Car
C. Membership is open to everyone without regard to race, color, creed or national origin, as long as they abide by the purpose and goals of the club and are at least 18 years of age.
D. DUES are $15.00 per single membership and $25.00 per couple. Dues for new members shall be pro-rated on the number of remaining months. Dues are per calendar year (Jan 1st – Dec 31st) and payable in December. The amount of dues is subject to change according to the current board. Membership must be renewed within 30 days of the New Year to remain in good standing.
Section 2: CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP
Active members are anyone having paid the annual dues. Each member, with paid membership, shall have a vote. A paid couple constitutes 2 votes.
A. Charter
All current paid members are considered Charter Members of the Club.
B. Honorary
Anyone who has commended themselves may be elected by the majority of vote by the board. Honorary membership requires no dues.
C. Associate or Sponsor
Any person or company that gives special consideration or gifts to the benefit of the Club. (Reviewed yearly.)
(Honorary/Associate Members/Sponsors are entitled to all Club privileges except the right to vote or hold office.
Section 3: EXPULSIONS
Membership shall be cancelled for nonpayment of dues after 30 days from the due date. Any member may be expelled for violation of the Clubs rules, or any other cause as determined by the officers.
Section 4: DISCONTINUANCE OF THE CLUB
If the Club disbands, all remaining assets will be donated to the current charity.
ARTICLE III
Section 1: ANNUAL MEETING
An Annual meeting will be called by the President, for the election of Officers, and any other pertinent business.
Section 2: REGULAR MEETINGS
Regular meetings will be held as posted on the official Club website
At all meetings, one fourth of the active members shall constitute a quorum. Any decisions made will be decided by majority vote.
ARTICLE IV
Section 1: NUMBERS OF OFFICERS
The election of Officers will include a President, Vice President, Director of Activities, Treasurer, Webmaster, and Secretary/Membership.
Section 2: ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Election of Officers shall be held at the annual meeting. All Officers shall be elected by a majority vote.
Section 3: RESIGNATION OF OFFICERS
If any of the previously listed Officers resign or are unable to continue in their current position, the President will select a member to fill the vacancy.
ARTICLE V
Section 1: DUTIES OF PRESIDENT
The President will oversee all meetings, events, etc, and make sure the Club is continuing to grow and run in a fashion that provides benefit to all members.
Section 2: DUTIES OF VICE PRESIDENT
The Vice President or designated person, will fill in for the President at any meeting or event, if the President can’t make it.
Section 3: DUTIES OF SECRETARY/MEMBERSHIP
The secretary will attend all meetings, trips, and events, and record all that transpires, then verify that it has been uploaded to the website.
Section 4: DUTIES OF TREASURER
Have custody of the Clubs records, monies, debts and obligations belonging to the Club. They will receive all monies and deposit same in the Clubs account and make all payments of Club debts upon approval of the President or by a majority vote. The President and Treasurer are required to sign all Club checks.
Section 5: DIRECTOR OF ACTIVITIES
Coordinate the Clubs activities. Establish monthly activities and insure they are posted on the Club’s official website. Solicit ideas from within the club
membership. Examples are dinner trips, overnight trips, poker runs, picnics, etc.
Section 6: DUTIES OF WEBMASTER
The Webmaster will create and maintain the Clubs website.
ARTICLE VI
Section 1: ACTIVITIES
Activities will consist of planned trips, social gatherings, and events for Corvette owners and honorary members as planned and notified on the website and at each meeting.
ARTICLE VII
Section 1: PERSONAL LIABILITY
All corporations extending credit to, contracting with or having any claims against the Club shall only look to the funds and property of the Club for payment of any such contract or claim or for payment Of any debt, damage, judgment, or decree, or any other money that may be otherwise become due or payable to them from the Club. So that neither the members of the Club, present or future, shall be liable.
